I have a confession to make. I am a 21 (soon to be 22) year-old virgin who has never had a boyfriend or been kissed. I’m not really sure how I would even react if I do, eventually, get a boyfriend. I have no idea how to act in a relationship or how to…well do anything. Do you want to know something? That’s completely okay.
It’s not just okay for me, it’s okay for everyone. In this day in age I think society puts pressure on people to be in a relationship. It’s puts pressure even on younger kids. I know kids who are in a relationship in the 6th grade. Is that really an age to start dating? Do kids that age really know just how complex being in a relationship can be? I suppose being that age their relationships aren’t going to be that complex but how do we really know? But hell, what do I know? Like I said, never had a boyfriend.
The point of this post isn’t what age it’s okay to date but that it’s okay to wait. Sure there are stories of people who started dating in high school and are still together today in happy, loving marriages/relationships. There are also stories where people met later in life and have happy, loving marriages/relationships. There is no right or wrong time to start. If you are reading this and you wanna go up to that special person and tell them you like them go for it. If you want to get your first kiss go after it. If you feel like it’s tell time to lose your virginity it’s yours to give. As long as it’s the right time for you. Don’t let anyone or anything pressure you to do anything. One thing I have learned is that if someone truly cares for you, they will wait. If not, they’re probably not as special as you once thought.
